The road from Accra to Mole National Park is more than just a route on a map. It’s a journey through Ghana’s heart, where the scenery, sounds, and pace of life slowly shift with every passing kilometre. By the time you reach the north, you feel like you’ve travelled through several worlds in one country.
When our bus leaves Accra in the evening, you don’t know yet what you signed up for. We’re leaving the streets that we know so well in Accra, and change them for unknown adventures. As we drive out, you can feel the excitement growing. Everyone settles in, snacks are shared, and soon the rhythm of the road begins to take over.
Heading north on Friday, the landscape begins to open. The coastal humidity fades, and wide stretches of green countryside appear. Villages with red-earth houses and mango trees line the road. Children wave as we pass, and every few hours we stop for a short break to stretch, grab some fresh fruit, or try a new snack from a roadside stall.
Somewhere after Banko, the air changes. The land feels drier, the colours deeper, and the light softer. This part of Ghana has a different energy. Slower, calmer, full of quiet beauty. As the bus moves on, you start to notice how the landscape tells its own story. Cassava farms give way to fields of shea trees, then open savanna. The trees grow shorter, the horizon wider.
It’s not just a trip north, it’s a trip into nature. By the time we reach Larabanga, the sound of birds replaces the sound of city horns. The sky seems bigger here, and the heat of the afternoon gives way to golden evenings that feel endless. The long drive suddenly makes sense. It’s part of what makes the safari feel so special. You don’t just arrive in Mole: you journey there. We know it’s a long drive, but the drive is part of the trip.
Traveling with a group makes this experience even better. Along the way, conversations start naturally. Someone points out a baobab tree, someone else plays music, and before long, laughter fills the bus. It doesn’t matter if you joined alone or with friends, by the time we reach the national park, you’ve already shared a small adventure together.
And then comes the moment everyone waits for. As you enter Mole National Park on Friday, the view opens up to a wide expanse of wild grassland. It’s quiet, except for the sound of birds and maybe a distant trumpet of an elephant. The first time you see one up close, it feels unreal. You realise how far you’ve come.
Our Safari Weekend is designed to make this journey easy and full of joy. You don’t need to worry about transfers, accommodation, or timing. We’ve organized everything, so you can simply enjoy the ride, the people, and the changing landscapes that make Ghana so unforgettable.
From Accra to elephants, every moment on the road is part of the adventure.
