Language Café Accra is built around accessibility, community, and cultural exchange. That is why we offer both “free” events and a paid membership. Each option serves a different purpose, and both play an important role in helping us create language and cultural experiences in Accra.
Our free events are donation based
Our “free” events are open to everyone. They are designed to create a welcoming space where people can meet, practice languages, and connect across cultures. Whether you are new to Accra, curious about languages, or simply looking to meet new people, you are always welcome to join.

While these events are free to attend, they are donation based. A donation is very encouraged to help us keep the programs running. Contributions from participants help cover logistics, coordination, materials, and the time required to organize community events.
Donations also help us maintain accessibility. By keeping events open and flexible, we make it possible for more people to participate regardless of budget. This is an important part of our mission and something we want to continue.
Free events are usually more casual and open format. You can drop in, meet new people, and enjoy a relaxed language exchange environment. These gatherings are ideal if you want to try Language Café Accra for the first time or attend occasionally.
What the paid membership offers
The paid membership is designed for people who want a more structured and consistent experience. Members receive additional benefits that go beyond the free events.
One of the main advantages is access to discounted activities. Members receive reduced prices for trips and other programs. This also includes discounted access to our upcoming Language Brunches and other curated experiences.
Members can also join Language Hangouts. These are small group activities and workshops where we organize the experience and find the group for you. Instead of attending large open events, you join a smaller group with a shared interest in languages and culture. This makes it easier to connect, participate, and build friendships.
Language Hangout are open for non-paid members as well, but they have to pay an organization fee to Language Café Accra.
The paid membership also supports the sustainability of Language Café Accra. Membership contributions help us plan ahead, develop new ideas, partner with local organizations, and expand our programming. This allows us to offer both free community events and more structured member experiences.
Choosing what works for you
Both free events and paid membership are part of the same community. You can attend free events, make a donation, and enjoy casual language exchange. If you want more structured activities, discounts, and small group experiences, the paid membership may be a better fit.
