Language Café Accra community guidelines
Language Café Accra is a space for language practice, cultural exchange, and community building. We welcome people of all backgrounds, languages, and experience levels. To keep our community safe, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone, all participants are expected to follow these guidelines.
Respect and inclusion
Treat everyone with respect, kindness, and openness. Discrimination, harassment, hate speech, or exclusion of any kind is not tolerated. Beginners and fluent speakers are equally welcome.
Language practice first
Language Café Accra events are for language learning and cultural exchange, not dating or romantic pursuits. Conversations should remain appropriate, respectful, and focused on learning and connection. Be patient, encouraging, and supportive of others’ language abilities.
Consent and boundaries
Always respect personal boundaries. Ask for consent before switching languages, taking photos, or sharing someone’s contact details. Do not pressure others to share personal information, meet outside events, or participate beyond their comfort level.
Safety and conduct
Harassment, intimidation, or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated. Participants are expected to respect event venues, hosts, facilitators, and volunteers. Anyone who makes others feel unsafe may be asked to leave an event or be removed from the community.
Photos and media
Photos or videos may be taken during events for community or promotional purposes. Please inform an organizer if you do not wish to be photographed. Do not post photos of others without their consent.
Events and meetups
Please arrive on time and inform organizers if you can no longer attend. Language Café Accra is not responsible for personal belongings. Participation in activities outside official events is at your own discretion.
Reporting concerns
If you feel uncomfortable or experience inappropriate behaviour, contact an organizer or host as soon as possible. All reports are taken seriously and handled discreetly. You may request support, mediation, or removal from a situation at any time.
Enforcement
Language Café Accra reserves the right to refuse entry, end participation, or revoke memberships in cases of serious or repeated violations of these guidelines. Paid membership fees are non-refundable in cases of removal due to misconduct.
