This is how your weekend will look like

You will meet your Travel Host and the other travelers at Afrikiko (Kanda, Accra) and drive in our rented AC bus to Busua. There's one washroom stop around Cape Coast.

Arrival at the hotel is estimated for 2AM.

After breakfast we will start with our first Twi Class: an introduction to this language. You will start with learning your Ghanaian name day, the Twi alphabet (not the same as the English alphabet!), the pronouns and the digraphs. Our Language Café Twi Volunteer will answer all your questions and gets you trough this. Then we start with our scripts book and teach you how to introduce yourself, how to bargain on the market, how to take a taxi and how to order food in a restaurant. No worries, tomorrow we will continue!

Before lunch we will visit the fort in the neighboring village Dixcove. The fort is built in 1692 by the British. You will learn more about the sad history of this place from the tour guide of the fort.

In the afternoon there's time to relax on the beach before we start our best activity: surfing! The professional surf instructors will teach everyone how to stand on the board, but if you already know how to surf you can grab a board and get these waves.

Our photographer will take the best pictures of your surfing experience.

In the evening we will have a local alcohol cocktail tasting, and we end the day with a bonfire, music and games.

Today you will continue practicing Twi Language with our script book. At the end of the session you will all perform one of the scripts and shows us what you learned. Then it's time to relax on the beach, before we start our second surf class.

This time around we hope you're able to catch some waves!

Around 4.30PM we have to make our way back to the hotel to prepare for the drive back to Accra. You will arrive in Accra around 11PM

FAQs

Can I join without knowing any Twi Language?

Yes! We are going to teach you the basics, so you can definitely join this tour.

Can I join without knowing how to surf?

Yes! The professional surf instructors will teach you from the beginning. Mostly people on this tour have never been on a surf board before (and can stand on it after the surf classes!)

Can I join with a friend?

Yes! You can both book a bed in the mixed shared dorm, or book a private room for the two of you (you will get a little discount).

I am vegetarian/vegan/have allergies/etc, is that a problem?

Absolutely not a problem. A few days before the trip we ask you to choose from the menu, if there’s nothing on it that you can eat let us know so we figure it out with the restaurant. We are used to organizing safe food for vegetarian, vegan and people with allergies or food preferences.

Can I come with my own car?

Yes, you can book the option “without transportation” in the booking form.
